KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
Keyboard shortcuts boosts productivity
TIPS
Here’s a few tips of the trade, just for you!
COPY, PASTE, AND CUT WITH KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS
Ctrl + C to copy, Ctrl + V to paste, and Ctrl + X to cut — Master these three basic commands first and you’ll find yourself zooming through document creation at surprising speeds.
DUPLICATE OBJECTS
Select the object, hold down the Ctrl key, and drag a duplicate to its new position. It works with objects and slides and multiple objects and slides.
ADD MORE THAN ONE NEW ROW OR COLUMN
To add multiple rows or columns in a spreadsheet, highlight the same number of pre-existing rows or columns that you want to add. Then right-click and select "Insert."
QUICKLY ZOOM IN OR OUT TO SAVE EYE STRAIN
Use the Window > Zoom button to choose the setting that works best for you — or look for the “100%” tab with a slider at bottom right of the document to easily zoom in or out.
GIVE OBJECTS A NUDGE
When you want to move an object in small increments, select it and then press the arrow keys in the direction you want to go. Doing so will move the object a pixel each time you press the arrow key.
REMOVE DUPLICATES
To remove your duplicates, highlight the row or column that you want to remove duplicates of. Then go to the Data tab, and select "Remove Duplicates" (under Tools).
DELETE ENTIRE WORDS AT A TIME
CYCLE THROUGH OBJECTS
SIMPLE CALCULATIONS
Instead of slowly pecking at the keyboard to delete text, or holding down Backspace to eliminate words or entire sentences, press Ctrl+Backspace with the cursor placed after a word you want to erase a word at a time, making a tedious task much easier.
To quickly find an object, simply press Tab. Doing so cycles the selection through all the objects on the slide. If you've grouped objects, Tab selects the group first and then cycles through the objects in that group.
Excel can help you do simple arithmetic like adding, subtracting, multiplying, or dividing any of your data.
To add, use the + sign.
To subtract, use the - sign.
To multiply, use the * sign.
To divide, use the / sign.
REMOVE UNWANTED FORMATTING
Press Ctrl + Space or click the Clear All Formatting button (in newer versions, an eraser on an A on the Home tab) to remove formatting from highlighted text and start fresh with your own style.
ANIMATION PAINTER
Once you have the animation scheme in place, select the animation's source object. Then, click Animation Painter and select the destination object. Similar to Format Painter, if you double-click Animation Painter, you can paste the animation to multiple objects.
FREEZE PANES
Scroll through a spreadsheet without losing focus on a particular part of the sheet or data. Select the row or column where the data begins in the sheet. Select the View tab, click the Freeze Panes menu then click Freeze Panes.
